About this collection

The herbarium at Waterton Lakes National Park contains about 5600 specimens and is used primarily in identifying plants for resource conservation activities. It was developed from collections by park naturalists in the 1960s and some collections from the 1940s. It was expanded with collections made by Job Kuijt and co-workers at the University of Lethbridge in 1969-1971. Other collections have been added by researchers in the 1970s and since 1990.
