About this collection

The University of Lethbridge Herbarium was founded by Job Kuijt, shortly after 1968, primarily as a teaching collection representative of the local flora. It was Kuijt’s deposition of the reference collection he amassed while researching and writing his 1982 book, A Flora of Waterton Lakes National Park, that distinguishes the collection. The collection currently includes over 21,000 specimens of vascular plants and remains an important research tool for botanists, students and the general public.
