doug and bill the ice centre is about ready ior wheat storage maurice says there is still room for volunteer help uest wishes to elva and hal on their coming marriage on june 17th frank siedel has a new rec ipe for the punch bowl the gas line from coutts to milk river will soon be at the bridge croteau is having a good nights sleep for a change mac mclean is taking over some of the gas worries now news notes •• • • george kuhl has returned home after spending the last three weeks it eastern canada and ann arbor and detroit michigan band queen honored alisti connie chapman queen of the milk river band was pleas antly surprised at the band prac tice last wednesday evening when phyllis schmitt on behalf of the milk river band presented her with two travelling bags as a tok en of appreciation miss chapman together with the milk river t ßand participated m the canadian legion band fes tival held m lethbridge on may 28th the milk river band which was organized one year ago gave a good performance and were given a wonderful reception by the music lovers who listened to them play the two dolls dressed by the home and school and entered m continued on back page 4-h club news the regular meeting of the writing on stone 4-h club was held recently with eleven members present andy horgus lead the members m the 4-h pledge and secretary herman thielen read the minutes of the last meeting and also a letter concerning the 4-h camp to be held m lethbridge this summer inorbert vombrock read a very interesting article on the control of wild oats the thematic display and float committees gave their reports and a discussion followed the mem bers met at the homo of richard thull to prepare the float for the lethbridge parade an invitation will be extended to the members of the warner 4-h clubs to tour the local grain plots after the meeting was adjourned the 4-h members sat m on the f.u.a meeting and the boys re ported on various safety rules con cerning the farm club reporter - dennis hierath aden news seceding has come to a finish and with the last few days of sun shine grain has made rapid growth a ball game was held at the grain school on sunday afternoon mr louis kolesar is driving a new two tone chrysler mrs hannah schroeder who has been visiting her sister mrs wareberg sr is now visiting m sweetgrass montana a number attended divine wor ship service m the new grassy rutte school on sunday rev c shoemaker of stanford montana was m charge of services mr shoemaker was a dinner guest of mr and mrs ed hcnlinc and fam ily mr orvillc wareberg has en tered several of his fine register ed aberdeen angus dulls m the lethbridge bull sale hon l.c halmrast hon leonard c hedmrast provincial minister of agriculture was nominated on wednesday as social credit candidate to repres ent the warner constituency m the june 29 provincial election halmrast was nominated by perry barton stirling farmer and seconded by russel lawrence of milk river t.w meldrum of raymond president of the war ner constituency social credit association was m the chair the meeting was told by the continued on page five notice to parents visiting day f or grade 1 begin ners for the fall term will be on thursday june 1 7th v from 9;00 a m to 3:00 p.m all children who plan to attend the milk river school and who will be 6 years old by december 31 next may enroll kindly present birth certificates at registration lucky strike news mr albert stadelman and fam ily of lloydminster saskatchewan were recent visitors with his par ents mr and mrs stadelman of groton the lucky strike community club held its monthly meeting on thursday may 26th at the hall with v'erdell taylor as hostess there were seven members and one visitor present and roll call was a favorite flower i would like to grow it was decided to raffia an electric bench grinder at the fall bazaar cemetery day will be lield on june sth jn the morning and it is hoped to have a large crowd present as there is a lot of work to do the contest given by nona whitney was won by pauline sturtevant and the tea prize was won by florence conway lunch was then served little rita walsh is a lethbridge hospital patient * seeding operations have been completed m this district summer fallow ing is now m full swing continued on back page golden jubilee — -
