[Tuesday, February 22 at 6:00 pm LHS Annual Dinner featuring: Philip Pype discussing Answered and Unanswered Questions of "Medicine" Hat Gait MuseumS Archives Tickets Required Lethbridge Historical Society Newsletter VOLUME 42 ISSUE I J A N / F E B 2 0 11 Newsletter ISSN 0838-7249 Celebrating Southern Alberta: Stirling, Magrath, Raymond, Cardston and Pincher Creek Through its 2010-2011 program of speakers and activities in conjunction with general meetings, the LHS is exploring the communities of Southern Alberta and discovering their unique stories. For the October meeting we were joined by Jack Hicken who delighted everyone present with his discussion of the settlement of Stirling, Magrath. Raymond, and Cardston. Through poetry and lively story telling, Mr. Hicken brought the past alive and encouraged a very active discussion period following his presentation. November's meeting, which was our AGM, saw the election of some new officers to our executive . Belinda Crowson after 4 years as your president, has stepped down to past President and Barry Snowden will now take the reins as President of the LHS for this year. Barry previously held this office from 2004 to 2005. We welcome him back to this LHS Annual Dinner Fight the winter blahs with an evening of history and camaraderie. Get your tickets now for the Lethbridge Historical Society 2011 Annual Dinner & Guest Speaker. Enjoy a delicious meal, great conversation and a presentation by Philip Pype, Esplanade Archivist, on Answered and Unanswered Questions of Medicine Hat History and learn a little more about the southeastern portion of our province. position and graciously thank Belinda for all her passion and dedication as she fulfilled her duties . A hearty welcome is also in order for Amy de Valois and Lana Lonseth as they join us as counsellors to the executive. This meeting also saw 2 long time members, Jean Johnstone and Bill Lingard complete their terms as Past President and Councillor, respectfully. They will still be| involved quite heavily in the Society. Bill i; the current chair of our Book committee andl Jean is involved with our Plaques and Monument committee and the Heritage Advisory committee. A heartfelt thank you for your| valiant efforts in continuing our good works. The November meeting also saw us contin-l ue our speaker series with Curator Farley Wuth from the Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village in Pincher Creek. He discussed Pinch-| er Creek's commercial development and it: beginnings as a ranching settlement. Thosel in attendance were treated to a very in-l formative evening.
